Practical Completion

Belmadar has achieved practical completion for the iconic Dawn Fraser Baths Restoration Project. The baths are the oldest remaining example of a fully enclosed tidal pool in Sydney Harbour.

Since being built in 1882, the heritage-listed baths have used by the local community, particularly Australia's oldest active swimming club – the Balmain Amateur Swimming and Life Saving Club.

Inner West Council engaged Belmadar to repair and reconstruct this much-loved historic bathing pavilion to accommodate expected sea-level rise and king tide flooding. The southern pavilion has been carefully dismantled to allow for piling, drainage, and the boardwalk's raising, in addition to the construction of new recycled timber pavilions, amenities, kiosk, and lighting towers.

The Belmadar Team is proud to have been able to restore this landmark for future generations to enjoy!
