Belmadar raises over $17k for leukemia research

City2Surf race 2019 | 13 Aug 2019 |

They did it! On Sunday 11 August the Belmadar Bandits City2Surf team completed all 14 kilometres of the world's largest fun run, in the process raising over $17,300 for the Garvan Institute of Medical Research.

Foreman Stefan Jantos was the first team member to cross the line in an impressive 58 minutes, with the remaining 15 Bandits finishing at various times thereafter, depending on the pace they chose to set themselves!

Belmadar has taken part in the City2Surf for the past four years, raising nearly $100,000 to support the Garvan Institute’s research into a preventative diagnosis for Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), which took beloved Belmadar founder Domenico Marrocco. As the most common leukemia affecting adults, AML can be fatal within months if left untreated, but is potentially curable if detected early and treated appropriately.
