Belmadar building towards a cure for blood cancer: City2Surf 2019

city2surf 2019 | 25 Jul 2019 |

Each year the BELMADAR BANDITS team runs, jogs, walks or even shuffles the 14 kilometres of FUN (!) that is the City2Surf, which this year takes place on Sunday 11 August.

We do this to raise funds for the Garvan Institute and their research into a preventative diagnosis for Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), an insidious disease that took Domenico Marrocco, Belmadar founder and beloved father of Managing Director Alf Marrocco. Having left a profound legacy which has helped shape this country and the benefits that modern day Australia enjoys we can do our bit to 'give back' by helping to find a cure for this insidious disease.

As the most common leukemia affecting adults, AML can be fatal within months if left untreated, but is potentially curable if detected early and treated appropriately.

Over the past four years with help from family, friends and business partners we've raised over $80,000 to support the Institute’s work, including more than $14,000 in 2018. This year we are aiming to reach $20,000 so anything you can give in support would be very gratefully received.

Please visit our fundraising page to donate. Thanks for your support – it means a great deal to us.
